GLEAM-X J162759.5−523504.3 as a white dwarf pulsar

چکیده
The low frequency radio source GLEAM-X J162759.5−523504.3 emits pulsed coherent polarized emission like that of pulsars. Yet its period 18.18 min (1091 s) is hundreds times longer than those confirmed pulsars, and if it a neutron star mean radiated power exceeds the upper limit on spin-down by more an order magnitude. This may be explained white dwarf pulsar, with moment inertia several orders magnitude greater stars. Lorentz factor emitting charge bunches bounded from below widths temporal substructure their radiation. If curvature radiation, radius estimated frequencies emission; consistent dwarf’s inner magnetosphere but not star’s.

Gcrt J1745-3009 as a Transient White Dwarf Pulsar
A transient radio source in the direction of the Galactic Center, GCRT J1745-3009, exhibited 5 peculiar consecutive outbursts at 0.33 GHz with a period of 77.13 minutes and a duration of ∼ 10 minutes for each outburst. It has been claimed to be the prototype of a hitherto unknown class of transient radio sources. We interpret it as a transient white dwarf pulsar with a period of 77.13 minutes. ...
متن کاملTiming of a young mildly recycled pulsar with a massive white dwarf companion
We report on timing observations of the recently discovered binary pulsar PSR J1952+2630 using the Arecibo Observatory. The mildly recycled 20.7-ms pulsar is in a 9.4-h orbit with a massive, MWD > 0.93 M , white dwarf (WD) companion. We present, for the first time, a phase-coherent timing solution, with precise spin, astrometric and Keplerian orbital parameters. This shows that the characterist...
متن کاملA Massive White Dwarf Companion to the Eccentric Binary Pulsar System PSR B2303+46
Pulsars in close, eccentric binary systems are usually assumed to have another neutron star as a companion. These double neutron star binaries have proven to be the best laboratories for experimental General Relativity and are the most secure candidates for gravitational wave interferometers. We present deep B, V , and R images of the field containing the eccentric binary pulsar system PSR B230...
متن کاملPolarimetric evidence of a white dwarf pulsar in the binary system ar Scorpii
The variable star AR Scorpii (AR Sco) was recently discovered to pulse in brightness every 1.97 min from ultraviolet wavelengths into the radio regime. The system is composed of a cool, low-mass star in a tight, 3.55-hour orbit with a more massive white dwarf. Here we report new optical observations of AR Sco that show strong linear polarization (up to 40%) that varies strongly and periodically...
متن کاملHot White Dwarf Donors in Ultracompact X-ray Binaries
The discovery of two accreting millisecond X-ray pulsars in binaries with ≈ 43 minute orbital periods allows for a new probe of the donor’s structure. For XTE J1751-305, only a hot white dwarf (WD) can fill the Roche Lobe. A cold He WD is a possible solution for XTE J0929-314, though I will show that evolutionary arguments make a hot WD more likely. In addition to being larger than the T = 0 mo...
